The USPS filed a proposal with the Postal Regulatory Commission for a rate increase in January 2011
This morning the Postal Service previewed the increases for mailing industry leadership.
Here are some of the features that will most directly impact business mailers:
- The overall increase is about 5.6%, but the increase will vary based on the type of mail
- There will be a Forever Stamp increase of 2¢ to 46¢
- Rates will increase for some categories, (primarily periodcials and some parcels)
First Class Mail
- The overall increase for First Class letters is about 5.4%
- Most presorted / automation letter rates will increase about 2.1 cents
- There are some incentives for including reply acards and envelopes
Standard Class Mail Rate Details
- Most Standard mail will increase from 4% to 6%
- Standard letters will increase by about 5%
